LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS
Skegness is easyly reached by road (A52) rail -direct from Nottingham or take the East Coast main-line and change at Grantham- or by National Express coach.
Once here, this bustling but compact little town has everything you could wish for in a sea-side resort, starting with literally miles of sandy beach and beautifully clean calm sea. The southern end of the beach is flanked by wild unspoilt countryside with a wealth of plant & bird life, and all just a stone's throw from the traditional hustle & bustle of fun-fairs, amusement arcades, bowling greens, seal sanctuary, swimming pools, pier, cinema, theatre, beautiful gardens and busy shopping centre.
Lincolnshire has a vast range of other towns & villages to visit too. Boston, whence the early settlers left for America, is probably well-enough known, but this county also has its New York, Holland and Gibraltar, not to mention

PETS WELCOME
Auntie Ruth is a great lover of animals , and delights in haveing pets visit. For dogs, there is fantastic walking country right nearby and a garden to play in safely at home. There is of course no charge for visiting animals; it is a privilege to be able to welcome them.
PROPRIETOR
The image dies hard of the traditional dragon landlady at the seaside, and in this regard, Auntie Ruth must look like the stereotype made flesh, but at heart she is a genuine Auntie figure, here to feed you up, make you comfortable and generally provide a pleasant foundation for an enjoyable summer holiday and a cozy refuge in winter, when the East Coast is certainly bracing but has a desolate beauty all of its own.
FOOD
Auntie Ruth is a keen cook, especially where puddings are concerned, and likes to explore unknown territory but golly gosh ,as Enid Blyton would have said, her home-made ice cream --sometimes in distinctly improbable flavours&nbh; can be out of this world! The portions are generous too, as anyone will testify who has been offered a small sample of whatever is in stock that day. Adventurous souls might like to book in for dinner, when the menu will be just like that at a state banquet, namely what you are given or go without!
Breakfast is a more predictable, traditional affair, served often by Christine, an experience caterer who has the ability to be in two places at once id est the kitchen and the dining room, and who most importantly of all, always appears cheerful in the mornings. She has been an absolute god-send to old Dragon Features, who prefers to stay out of sight until the sun has risen a little higher.
In Conclusion
Judging by the following review, we have certainly had at last one very satisfied customer, and now it is your turn to visit this gem of a resort and this most welcoming of guest houses. NB: Auntie Ruth is an inveterate technophobe. Wi-fi internet access is available for quests but please contact her in the good old-fashioned way - by phone or post. You may pay by card if you wish. Here's looking forward to welcoming you soon.
Back in Skegness, just one guest house comes highly recommended (at least by this reviewer!), and the exquisite colour of its exterior makes it hard to miss. Not to worry if green is not your favourite: the colour schemes indoors are more varied and restrained. The house is comfortable and ideally situated for both types of beach, bustling and quiet. The town centre, local shops, rail & bus stations are also just a few minutes walk away.
